the first look.
Look one consists of a henley style top constructed from secondhand, hatched cotton with a waxed bottom panel that can be button upped on side seams to create a pocket addition. The intention for the waxed pocket is drawn from a desire to be able to collect found objects in nature and having a convenient place to store them. The silhouette is reminiscent of my all too recent moments folding my shirt inside out to create a kangaroo-like pouch to carry rocks and shells on hikes and on beaches. The buttons are secondhand wood pieces that were shared from a friend's barn.
The shorts are developed from an upcycled tablecloth and have drawstring, adjustable elements at the hem of both the front and back pant legs to allow the wearer to hike up their shorts in those moments where they hope to wade just a bit deeper into the water or hope to dig on hands and knees for creatures in the dirt. The silhouette also mimics that of the Mangbetu bark cloth pantaloons with the addition of a paper bag waist.
